Traditional Christmas using new Mixed Media Bauble Dies & Stamps

The new Mixed Media range from Crafter's Companion include Bauble Base dies which can be used to make all kinds of fabulous projects for Christmas. It also includes a Snow Globe die which is going to be great to use all year round. The launch is Sunday on Hochanda at 6pm.

I don't get the time to colour often but I really enjoyed making these two cards. I used the Traditional Bauble Base die with the stamps and used them as the focal point on the card.

A couple of the stamped area's are decoupaged to give it some depth but you can't see this in the photos.

I also used this same Bauble base to create some cards that stand on there own by just folding a piece of card in half and placing the die just over the folded area:

These are going to be super easy to batch make and by just changing the background colours you are going to make each one unique.

Christmas Transfers & Foils - Red, Gold and Black

In the crafting world the prep for Christmas has well and truly started but I still haven't got used to designing cards when the weather is so good.

Tonight's post is a really simple 6" x 6" card using the Christmas red foil with the 'Ring out those Bells' transfers. I used gold mirror and black card for matting and layering.

Create A Cards - Floral Lace Hearts

It's Friday and I am so looking forward to some downtime this weekend!

Tonight I am showing you a very quick make using a Create A Card die...I think these die's make the simplest card look fabulous. This is also testament to how good Centura Pearl Card is as it held it's shape very well as a card even though the border around it was just over a quarter of an inch wide.

This is a simple 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" card with the create a card cut into the centre. I added a small quarter inch boarder of patterned paper with a matching back panel, added a few gems and a ribbon and the card was done.

It would make a great Valentine's card or a 'just because' card for a loved one but then change the colour scheme and it would be perfect for occasions like Mother's Day, Engagements and Birthdays.

This Crafter's Companion die and others in the range can be seen live in action on Hochanda on the 13th August on the One Day Special show.

Thanks for visiting, hope you like the card. Have a great weekend x

How to get three cards out of one Foil Transfer sheet - Crafter's Companion Christmas Foil Transfers

If you didn't get the chance to see the fabulous Christmas Foil Transfers from Crafter's Companion then you have another chance to get these sets on the 7th August. The shows are on Hochanda at 7am, 10am and 3pm.

In the last shows Debbie showed us some great tips on how to make these sets go even further and I want to share some of these tips with you today.

Tip number 1.
When using a large sheet of transfers place the sheet onto your card and run it through your die cutting machine....this will save you time rather than rubbing the transfer on with the stick provided.

Tip number 2.
Lay your foil sheet onto the card you have added the transfers to and run this through your die cutting machine. This is not just because its quicker but mainly because you will have a perfectly flat foil sheet which you can use to make another card. Remove the foil and pop it to one side.

Tip 3.
Keep the patterned backing sheet from the transfer.

Using the method from tip 1 you will have the transfer pattern showing like this (after foiling):

Now to the clever bit...Tip 2 - how to get a second card using the left over foil. You will need an adhesive sheet (available from Crafter's Companion) and another piece of card. Cut a piece of adhesive sheet out to match the size of your card. Remove the backing paper from one side and stick it onto your card and then remove the top backing paper. Very carefully lay your 'used' foil down onto the adhesive (silver side down / coloured side up) and run this through your die cutting machine.

Carefully remove the foil sheet and you will now have something like this:

I used glitter to cover the 'white' adhesive patches.

I wasn't savvy enough to know this when I started using the foils so unfortunately I did throw away my foil from the first card but lesson learned....I won't be doing it again.

I don't have a third card to show you for tip 3 because I cut my foil transfer backing sheet down to make tags but here is what you can do. The backing sheet has the black pattern showing on it. You could take a piece of card and colour it with Aqua Markers or Aquatints or even use backing paper and then mount the foil transfer backing sheet onto the top.

I used mine for tags (see the red tag) and I used an adhesive sheet, applied red foil over the tag and then glued the backing sheet onto the top. The flowers hide the glue spot:

So, three cards with one foil sheet and the best part is you get four sheets in each pack so you could make a minimum of 12 cards (if you used the whole sheet for one card). Or perhaps you want to use the smaller transfers for tags. You can get four tags each sheet so using the three tips you would get 12 tags from one foil sheet, even more if you chose to use one element per tag....bargain!

I feel a challenge coming on, how many items can you make from on Foil Transfer pack....

Well, thanks for visiting and hope you have a fab weekend x

3D Embossing Folders....Christmas Village

You are going to need 3D embossing folders in your life, they are the future! Seriously!

The new folders from Crafter's Companion give your embossed card a real depth that normal embossing folders have never achieved before. I'm probably not explaining this very well but the embossing is deeper in some areas so parts of it pop out of the design....trust me, get yourself one and you will see what I mean.

This is a card I made using the Christmas Village 3D Embossing Folder:

The folders are 5" x 7" but that doesn't limit the size of card you can make...this is an 8" x 8" card.

I used Aquamarkers on Centura Pearl Card to create the background (using the 'smoosh' technique) and then used the embossing folder. I used Spectrum Noir Pens to colour the details.

If you look at the trees at the front and then the trees at the back you can see what I mean by it having depth.

Hope you like this and thank you for visiting x

It's Christmas! Sara's Signature Collection - Scandinavian Christmas

So any crafter will tell you that now is the time to start preparing for Christmas....unless you are me and then you leave it until the last minute.

I was very privileged to get to work on the new collection by Sara - Scandinavian Christmas. It's a fabulous collection and Sara has included so much in it. Don't feel limited to a Scandinavian colour scheme / theme though as this collection is so versatile it will work in any Christmas style you choose.

Here is an 8" x 8" card made using some if the dies and one of the embossing folders.

The baubles die set comes with a couple of stamps too so you can have several different variations of the baubles.

I will be posting a few more Christmas projects now so I hope I help you to feel inspired to start preparing your Christmas crafty goods early. Thanks for popping by x

Create-A-Card Flutterby - Colourful Butterflies

The fabulous new Create-A-Card Die's were released a couple of weeks ago and I had so much fun with this one - Flutterby.

I used Distress Inks in Sheena's Stamping Card to colour the background. Sprinkle water over the card before you die cut and then blot with a piece of kitchen towel and leave it to dry out. Once dry you can die cut it.

I added embossing powder to the butterflies so they sparkle in the light and several pearls and a sentiment cut out from the waste area. The sentiment is glued to the inside of the card.

This is a simple 6" x 6" card and the die does all the work so it's actually a quick and easy one to do.

Well the sunshine is out so hope everyone has a fab weekend x

Die'sire Edge'able 'Renaissance' - Sparkly Silver Congratulations Card

This card is all made using black card, I used Silver Gilding Wax which gives it a metal look and Holographic Embossing Powder which gives it sparkle. I don't think it's shown very well in the photo but it really does sparkle when the light catches it (the second photo shows this better).

I have blogged about a frame card before and this one was made the same way.

Make a base card measuring 5" x 5". Cut another panel out measuring 8" x 8" and die cut three of the edges using the Renaissance Edge'able die. Apply the Gilding Wax and embossing powder (optional). Glue this panel to the base card.

Cut another panel measuring 5" x 5" and glue this to the centre of the die cut panel using Gel glue. Decorate however you like.

Rather than using Gems to decorate this time I used Liquid Pearls...something that has been quite neglected in my stash for years. Quite pleased with the results although you do need a steady hand when applying.

Waves - Textures Elements Embossing Folder & Elements Stamps

Although this embossing folder is called 'Waves' I wanted to use different colours to the ones you may automatically associate with the name. For the colour I used Aquatints with a drop of Glycerine and then dripped water on it to produce the 'bleach effect.

This was a large 8" x 8" Z fold card and because the colours were so bright and vivid I decided to only use a hint of colour on the sentiment tags.

Die'sire Edge'able Victoriana - Engagement

A very quick and very simple Easel card but the Victoriana Edge'able Die gives it that purrfect finish (sorry...couldn't resist) :O)

This is a 6" x 6" Easel card cut out of Kraft card using paper from Sara's Shabby Chic Paper Pad to decorate.

The cats are made using the Catitudes Cat Silhouette Die and I have used a little Distress Ink on one of them to give a slightly darker shade.

Some flowers and a few gems finish off the card.

Well I hope you have all had a good start to the Bank Holiday weekend. I have spent the afternoon making backgrounds with inks and watercolours...it's very messy and I have ink all over my fingers but it's been a productive afternoon. Hopefully be using some of them for cards very soon so will blog about them later.

Take care everyone and thank you for visiting.
